The overall best candidate in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, Daniella Owoeye Jesudunsin, has been awarded a ₦1 million scholarship in recognition of her outstanding performance in the examination.
Owoeye announced the development in a Facebook post on Wednesday while expressing appreciation to members of the Ekiti Parapo in Indiana, United States, for the scholarship award, and family members, and other well-wishers who celebrated her achievement.
She described the occasion as memorable and said she was overwhelmed by the love and support she received.
Owoeye, an indigene of Erinmope-Ekiti in Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State who sat the examination in Ogun State, emerged as the highest scorer in the 2026 UTME with an aggregate score of 372 out of 400.
The 16-year-old scored 98 in English Language, 98 in Chemistry, 94 in Physics and 82 in Biology and is seeking admission to study Medicine and Surgery at the University of Lagos.
Her Motivation
Owoeye attributed her success to early preparation, consistency and smart studying rather than spending long hours reading. She said she relied heavily on past questions, CBT applications, online tutorials and study groups while identifying and improving on her weak areas throughout her preparation.
